Email

The Very Rev. Ryan S. Reed was born in 1967 in Omaha, Nebraska. The son of Larry and Nancy Reed, he grew up primarily in the vicinity of Houston, Texas. He was active at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepard, where as a child and teenager, he served as an acolyte, in the EYC, and sang in the choir. While in high school, he served as Rector of Happening and, as a senior, served as the President for the Diocese of Texas EYC.

He entered Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, in August of 1986 and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He participated in Army ROTC; was a member of the Parson's Mounted Calvary, Cadet Court, 2nd Battalion Staff, Company Chaplain; and received two Distinguished Student Awards. Following graduation from A&M in May of 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, Dean Reed was commissioned as an infantry officer in the United States Army. He was released from active duty in May of 1991.

Dean Reed met his wife, Kathy Marie Warren, during their sophomore year at A&M. They married in September, 1991, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Fort Worth. Dean Reed began a full time ministry at St. Andrew's as the Youth Director in August of 1991. Two years later in August of 1993, Dean Reed and Kathy moved to Ambridge, Pennsylvania, so he could attend seminary at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. Following graduation in 1996 with a Masters of Divinity Degree, Dean Reed was ordained at St. Vincent's Cathedral Church in Bedford, Texas, where he served for two years as a curate.

He served as Vicar at Ascension and St. Mark's, Wise County, Texas, from 1998 to the present. Dean Reed has served since 1999 as a member on the Executive Council of the Diocese of Fort Worth and as a member on the Finance Committee. He was an alternate for clerical deputy to General Convention in 2000, convenor of the Commission on Ministry - Committee for Lay Ministry, a member of the Christian Education Commission, the Armed Forces Representative for the Diocese, and a member of the Hispanic Affairs Committee. Dean Reed is a member of the Society of the Holy Cross, Forward in Faith, and the Catholic Clerical Union. He previously served as an Army Reserve Chaplain, a volunteer firefighter, a board member for the Decatur Lion's Club, and a chaplain at Wise Regional Medical Systems.

Dean Reed and Kathy served as foster parents for two children for a year prior to leaving Wise County. They are the proud parents of a beautiful daughter, Gracie. During his spare time, he likes to cook, play golf, watch and participate in sports, read, and go to the movies.

Dean Reed served as President of the Standing Committee for the diocese of Fort Worth from 2003-2008. Dean Reed has served as a deputy to General Convention, as a Steering Committee Member for the Network of Anglican Communion Dioceses and Parishes, as the FIFNA Clergy Representative to The Common Cause Partnership, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Anglican Council . Dean Reed is the seventh Rector to serve at St. Vincent's Cathedral and School since 1955.
